Car Insurance Lincoln (Car Insurance). How a Jet Engine Works? How a Jet Engine Works? In a turbo-fan jet engine you have two sets of "fans" which operate. A compressor and a turbine. Does the compressor have it's own motor to pull in air or is it started by machine and then the turning of the turbine continues the compressor? Basicly, are there any motors in a turbo-fan jet engine? There is a starter motor to get the turbine/compressor moving so it is spinning when fuel is injected and ignited. The burning fuel and the exhaust keep the engine operating. There is an exhaust turbine as well that the escaping hot exhaust spins which is connected to the front by a shaft so both sets work together. The escaping hot exhaust moves faster than the incoming heavy cold air as it is escaping from a small combustion chamber where it expanded during burn. Lincoln . How to Fix Scratches on Your Car or TruckIf your car is anything like mine when I got it, it is covered in small scratches. I was even lucky enough to get a long deep one. Instead of forking out a ton of money to a body shop to fix them, I did it myself to save a ton of money. Doing it yourself great if your like me and not willing to pay someone to do easy work. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Step by Step : 1 The first thing you should do regardless of what paint your car has is to clean the surface of any dirt. Use dish soap and scrub liberally to remove some of the wax. 2 The easiest step if your car has a lacquer based paint job is to use lacquer thinner. Dampen a rag and swirl around the scratch or nick. This will actually soften and move the paint around. Wipe off the excess and your done. 3 For enamel based paints you can use a rubbing compound/scratch remover. For the best results, use a buffer but you can do it by hand. Remember to go in a swirling motion. This may take longer and need a couple of treatments before the scratch is filled. After a while you should wax the car again to put back the seal that you removed with the dish soap. 4 If these two methods don't work you will need some touch up paint. No it's not hard to do! Look on your door jam to find your paint code and visit any dealer of your make. They usually have small cans to spray or they have small nail polish like applicators. If you have a nick in your paint you can use the applicator to dab some in but be careful not to add to much. For the small scratches I like to use a toothpick to get the paint only into the scratch for a much cleaner look. After a few days you should wax your car.
Lincoln . How to Stop Oxidation on Automotive PaintExposure to the elements can cause your car's paint to oxidize and become discolored. You can prevent oxidation, but if you let the process continue too far, you will have to repaint the vehicle to restore the finish. The best thing you can do is wash and wax the vehicle regularly to prevent oxidation before it starts. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Soap and water Sponge Automotive paint polish Quality car wax Buffer Step by Step : 1 Wash the entire car to remove dirt and grit from the surface of the paint. When it comes time to buff the paint, note that any grit left behind can scratch the paint. 2 Apply a high-quality polishing compound to the car using a clean, soft rag. Work in small areas and apply the compound using small circles. 3 Buff the area you applied the compound to with a low-speed, orbital buffer. Work in straight lines up and down the panel, moving slowly but not stopping in any one spot for more than a second or two. 4 Continue applying polishing compound and buffing it off as you work your way around the vehicle. If you have a section where the oxidation is being stubborn, you can work a little longer on that area, as long as you don't try to buff just that one spot. Keep the buffer moving. 5 Wax the entire car with high-quality automotive wax to protect the paint you just buffed. Tips & Warnings Keeping your car washed and waxed regularly will help prevent further oxidation and preserve the finish. *cover. hose connections If your engine is carbureted, look for a %-inch diameter hose that leads from the bottom area of the carburetor to the top of the valve cover or to the oil filler hole (see Figure 13-7). If your engine has both, you want the hose that does not lead to the oil filler hole. Some PCV valves screw into the base of the carburetor; some push into a rubber grommet in the valve cover at the end of the hose that leads from there to the carburetor; and still others screw or push into the oil filler cap or tube. Pick the one that seems easiest for you: * Method 1: With the engine idling, pinch the hose hard to shut off any air that may be going through it, but don't puncture the hose. If the PCV valve is operating, the idle speed should drop perceptibly; you'll be able to hear the change. ^ Method 2: Remove the PCV valve from the valve cover, with the hose still attached, and place your finger over the open end of it (see Figure 13-8). If it's working well, you will feel strong suction. * Method 3: Remove the oil filler cap from the valve cover and place a stiff piece of paper over the opening. If your PCV valve is working properly, the paper should be sucked against the hole within seconds. Figure 13-8: One way to checkyour PCV valve. .Chapter 13: Keeping Your Fuel System in Tune Checking the PCV Valve hose While you have the PCV valve off, check the hose by removing it and blowing through it. If the hose is dry, brittle, soft and spongy, or full of sludge or hard deposits, replace it. When everything is shipshape once more, reassemble the hose and valve and put them back on. Cleaning your PCV Valve Lincoln . What type of car did Reggie hammonds have in 48 hours?
Kia Sedona. * If your PCV valve isn't working and you have the kind that comes apart, you can clean it yourself by taking it apart and immersing it in carburetor cleaner or PCV solvent, if you can get some cheaply. Lacquer thinner and fuel oil can also do the job. There should be no gummy deposits or discoloration on a clean valve. If your PCV valve must be replaced, buy a new one, remove the old valve, and insert the new one in its place. Tuning j/aur Carburetor Carburetors on 1970s and later vehicles require very few adjustments because of tighter emissions regulations. If you have a carburetor that's older than that (see Figure 13-9), you can do several things to keep it in tune: * Adjust the idle speed screw to keep the vehicle idling at the proper number of revolutions per minute (rpm). * Readjust the automatic choke if your vehicle doesn't start properly in the morning.
